This guide will take you through the steps on how to reset your 2Wire 3801HGV router. Doing this returns your router to its original default settings. This is completely different than rebooting which simply means to cycle the power by turning it off and then back on again.

Warning: Resetting your router should only be done after all other options have been tried. The following is a partial list of the things that will be changed when you reset your router.

  • The router's main username and password will return to the original factory default.
  • Your Internet username and password will be reset.
  • Any ISP usernames or passwords you entered will need to be entered again. If you are unsure of your Internet Service Providers username and password you will need to call them.
  • Any other configurations such as firewalls or port forwarding will need to be re-entered.
