How to Reset the Actiontec GT724WG

Here on this page we will go over the steps in order to reset the Actiontec GT724WG to it's factory defaults. This is not the same thing as rebooting the router which is turning it off and back on again.

Warning: Resetting the router will erase everything you have previously done to it. Some things you need to consider before continuing are:

  • the router username and password are reverted to factory defaults.
  • Your SSID/username and password are also reset to factory defaults.
  • The ISP information such as username and password need to be entered again. If you don't know these details check with your ISP.
  • Configurations such as firewalls and port forwards need to re-entered.

With the router turned on move it so you are looking at the back panel.

Now take the end of a paperclip or pen and press and hold the reset button for approximately 10 seconds. When you let off of the reset button the process of resetting the router begins.

Make sure you do not unplug the router while the reset process is happening. This could cause permanent damage to your router.
