Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Actiontec T1200H to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Actiontec T1200H

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Actiontec T1200H router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Actiontec T1200H router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Actiontec T1200H

Once you have finished logging into the Actiontec T1200H router you should begin on the page you see above. Click the Firewall option at the top of the page. Then on the left side of the page click the option of Port Forwarding.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Actiontec T1200H

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

First you need to choose the option of Manually enter the IP address in the Select LAN Device: box.

Second, enter the IP address you are forwarding these ports to in the box labeled LAN IP Address:. Remember if you are forwarding this port/ports to a certain computer you need to enter that specific computer's IP address in this box.

To Forward a single port - Enter the port number in the all four of the boxes labeled External (WAN) Start Port, External (WAN) End Port, Internal (LAN) Start Port, and Internal (LAN) End Port.

To Forward a range of ports - Enter the lowest number of the range in the two boxes labeled External (WAN) Start Port and Internal (LAN) Start Port. Enter the highest number in the range into the other two boxes labeled External (WAN) End Port and Internal (LAN) End Port.

Next, use the Protocol drop down list to choose the type of protocol you need to use for the ports you are forwarding.

Click the green Apply button and you are finished.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Actiontec T1200H you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
