Setup WiFi on the Actiontec T1200H

The Actiontec T1200H router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Actiontec T1200H

Find the WiFi Settings on the Actiontec T1200H

We begin this wireless setup guide on the Home page of the Actiontec T1200H router. To start off, click the Wireless Settings option at the top of the page, and then Basic Settings in the left hand sidebar.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Actiontec T1200H

We'll start by setting an SSID Name. This will be your network identification and can be anything you like, though we recommend avoiding any personal information. To learn more, see our Wireless Names Guide.

Now you need to make sure that the Security is set to WPA / WPA2 and the WPA Type is set to WPA2-Personal. To learn why this is important, check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Be sure that the Encryption Type is set to AES.

Finally, you need to set a password. This can be anything you wish, though we recommend using 14-20 characters and avoiding any personal information. Congratulations! You're finished. Don't forget to Apply your changes before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
