In this guide we will show you how to reset your Actiontec TDSGT784WN router to factory defaults. Some people are confused about the difference between resetting and rebooting. Rebooting only refers to cycling the power by turning the router off and back on again. Resetting reverts all setting to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting the router can cause unexpected problems if you haven't considered the following:

  • the router username and password are reset
  • the WiFi username and password are reset to factory settings
  • If you use a DSL router you will lose Internet connection until you re-enter the ISP username and password. If you don't know these details you should call your ISP.
  • All configurations are erased when resetting the router. This includes firewalls port forwards and any thing else you have done to personalize the router.
