This guide will cover how to reset the Arris TG862A router. There is some confusion on the difference between resetting and rebooting. Rebooting refers to cycling the power by turning the device off and back on again. Resetting a router is almost as easy but has more consequences.

Warning: Resetting this router can cause problems if you don't know what it entails. Please take a moment to consider the following:

  • The router username and password are reset.
  • The WiFi username and password are reset.
  • If you use DSL you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. You will have to call your ISP or Internet Service Provider for the details.
  • All changes you have made to your router will be erased. This could include everything from IP address changes to port forwards.
