On this page I will show you how to reset the CNet CAR-854 router back to it's original factory default settings. This is not the same thing as a reboot which only cycles the power to the device. This is done to solve minor problems you may experience from your router. A reset is taking all the settings and returning them to factory defaults.
Warning: Resetting this router can cause a lot of problems for you if you don't understand what settings have been changed. Please consider the following before continuing:
- The username and password of the router are reverted to factory defaults.
- The Internet name and password are also reverted to factory settings.
- If you use a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your local Internet Service Provider for more information.
- If you have made any other changes to your router you need to reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

Reset the CNET CAR-854
The first step in any reset is to know where the reset button is located. We have found it for you and circled in the image below.
Due to the small size of the button we recommend using an unfolded paperclip or pin to press and hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds. If you don't hold this button down for long enough you end up simply rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.
Be warned that this will erase every setting you have done to this router. To avoid the necessary reconfiguration you need to try other troubleshooting methods.
Login to the CNET CAR-854
After the reset process is complete you need to login to the device using the appropriate default username and password. We have this information for you in our Login Guide for the CNet CAR-854 router.
Change Your Password
Now it's a good idea to change the default password. This password is protecting the router's interface. If you need help coming up with a new password check out our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.
Tip: To avoid losing this password you could write it down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of the router for future reference.
