On this page I will explain how to reset the Cybersafe CS247B58 router back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you end up only cycling the power to the device. This solves a lot of minor problems you might experience while owning a router. A reset takes all the settings and erases them. It then reverts everything back to the original factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step in troubleshooting a router's problems. Be aware of what settings will be changed before you begin. Consider the following:

  • The main username and password you use to access your network are erased.
  • The Internet information such as name and password are also wiped from the router's memory.
  • If you use a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. This information can be gathered by calling your local Internet Service Provider or ISP.
  • Any other changes you have ever made are reverted to factory defaults. These include anything from IP addresses to port forwards.

Reset the Cybersafe CS247B58

The first step in a reset is to know where the reset button is located. On this particular router I was unable to find the exact location. I can show you the typical location of a reset button in the image below.

Normally this reset button is very small and recessed making it impossible to accidentally reset the router. Once you have located the reset button take the tip of a pin or unfolded paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds to begin the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for the entire amount of time required it will simply reboot your router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember this reset will erase every single setting you have ever changed on this device. We recommend trying other ways of troubleshooting this problem before you resort to a reset.

Login to the Cybersafe CS247B58

Now that you've reset your Cybersafe CS247B58 router you need to log into it. This is done using the default username and password. We have these for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it may be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

After you've logged in we strongly suggest changing the default password. Bear in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters long and contains no personal information. For more help check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Keep from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
