How to Reset the Dlink DCS-3220

With this guide I will show you how to properly reset the Dlink DCS-3220 camera back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. A reboot is a way to cycle the power to the camera. This solves some of the more minor problems you may be experiencing with you router. A reset takes all the settings and returns them to factory settings.

Warning: Resetting this camera can be a problem if you don't know what settings get changed. We recommend making a list of the settings you know will be changed. Consider the following while making this list.

  • The camera's main username and password are restored to factory defaults.
  • If you have ever made any other changes to this router you need to write them down so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

Reset the Dlink DCS-3220

Begin by locating the reset button on the device itself. For your convenience I have circled it in the image below.

As you can see from this image the reset button is quite small and recessed. Take the end of a paperclip and press down on the button for about 10 seconds. If you don't hold this button down long enough you simply reboot the camera instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Warning: Do not unplug the camera during the reset process. Doing so could result in permanent damage to the device.

Remember this reset is erasing every setting you have ever changed in the camera's interface. You might avoid this loss if you try other troubleshooting methods first.

Login to the Dlink DCS-3220

After resetting your Dlink DCS-3220 camera you'll need to log into it. Do this using the factory default username and password. Don't know what these are? Not to fear; we have them listed for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: If it seems that the defaults aren't working for you it may be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password
