If you want to change your channel you can do that in the first section here. The second option is titled Channel. First highlight the region in which you are using this router. Then to the right of that, pick the channel you want to use. The best three channels to use are 1,6, and 11. If you are interested in learning more about the channels, read this guide.

Now scroll down to the next section and find the SSID. This is the network ID and should be unique to you. Don't use personal information here but be creative. Learn more about SSID's in this guide.

Directly below that is a drop down list titled Authentication Type. This is the security your router will use to protect your local network. We recommend choosing WPA2-PSK. If you are interested in learning why this is our recommendation, take a look at this guide.

You should then be asked for a Pre-Shared Key. This is your network password and should be strong. We recommend using a minimum of 14 to 20 characters with some symbols, numbers and capital letters mixed in for strength. For more on this topic, read our Password Guide.

When you are finished, click the SAVE button to finalize these settings.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
