Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Actiontec M1000 Qwest to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Actiontec M1000 Qwest

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Actiontec M1000 Qwest router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Actiontec M1000 Qwest router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Actiontec M1000 Qwest

Once you have logged into the Actiontec M1000 Qwest you begin on the Home page of your router. First click the red button labeled Advanced Setup. Then on the left side of the page find and click the choice labeled Advanced Port Forwarding which is under the heading of Security.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Actiontec M1000 Qwest

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

On this new page enter the ports you want to forward in the boxes labeled Enter Port IP Range. If you are forwarding a single port, enter that number in both boxes, if you are forwarding multiple ports, then enter the lowest number in the left box and the highest number in the range in the right box.

In the Protocol drop down menu choose the type of protocol you are going to use when forwarding these ports.

Next, in the box labeled IP Address, enter the IP Address you are forwarding these ports to. If you are forwarding ports to run a computer program, make sure that you use that computer's IP Address in this box.

Now, click Add and you have finished.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Actiontec M1000 Qwest you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
