This guide will go over how to reset the Allied-Telesyn AT-AR221E router to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as rebooting. When you reboot the router you are simply turning it off and back on again. When you reset this router you are erasing all your configurations and returning it to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router can cause problems if you are unprepared. Take the following into consideration:

  • The router's main username and password are reset.
  • If you use a DSL connection you will need to re-enter the ISP username and password to continue the use of the Internet.
  • All of the configurations you made such as port forwards or IP address changes need to be re-entered.

Locate the button titled Init short for Initialize. This is the reset button. Press and hold this button until the Status button on the front stops flashing and then flashes 6 times. Now release the Initialize button. This resets your Allied-Telesyn AT-AR221E router to factory defaults.

Please remember this erases everything you have ever done to this router. This should only be done after other troubleshooting options have been exhausted.
