This guide covers how to reset the BeWAN Elisa router back to factory default settings. This is not the same thing as a reboot which only cycles the power to the device in order to solve minor behavioral problems your router may be having. A reset is taking all the settings and returning them to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step in troubleshooting. Make sure you know the risks. Consider the following:

  • The router's username and password are reverted to factory settings.
  • The Internet name and password are also reverted to factory defaults.
  • If you use a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password in order to use the Internet again. Find out what these values are by calling your local Internet Service Provider.
  • Any other settings you have changed will be erased. These all need to be reconfigured.

Reset the BeWAN Elisa

When you want to reset the router you need to find the reset button. This button is normally on the back panel or underside of the router. Unfortunately we don't have an image of this reset button to show you. I can show you a similar router so you know what you are looking for.

Due to the small size of this button you need to use a sharp object such as a pin or unfolded paperclip to press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds. If you don't hold this button down for long enough you end up simply rebooting the router instead of resetting it.

Remember this reset erases everything you have done to your router. A reconfiguration is necessary. To avoid this you need to try other troubleshooting methods first.

Login to the BeWAN Elisa

After resetting this router you need to login to it using the appropriate default username and password. Take a look at our Login Guide for the BeWAN Elisa router.

Change Your Password

It's now a good idea to change that default password. This password protects your router's interface. Make a strong password by following the tips in our Choosing a Strong Password guide.

Tip: To avoid losing your password try writing it down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of the router for next time.

Setup WiFi on the BeWAN Elisa

The next settings you need to check are the WiFi settings. These include the SSID, the Internet Password, and the Authentication type. We strongly recommend using the option of WPA2 when possible. Learn more about that in our guide titled How to Setup WiFi on the BeWAN Elisa router.
