This guide shows you how to reset your BT Home Hub 6 router. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. A Router Reset completely erases the router and returns it to factory settings.
Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. The following settings in your router will be changed:
- The router's login and password are reset.
- All WiFi information such as network name, password, and authentication method are erased.
- Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, and port forwards that you have configured will be removed.

Reset the BT Home Hub 6
Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. A typical reset button looks like this:
Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. Sometimes the button is under a pinhole, and you need a paper clip to push it.
Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. You can hold the button down as long as you like, it will not hurt anything.
Remember, this will totally reset your BT Home Hub 6 router.
