On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Crypto WF200 router back to factory defaults. It's important that you know this is not the same thing as a reboot. A reboot is a way of cycling the power to the device. This solves most behavioral problems you might be having with your router. A reset takes all your settings, erases them, and returns them to how they were from the factory.
Warning: This can be a problem if you don't understand what a reset does. Any setting you have ever changed or had to input will be erased. Please consider the following before you continue.
- The router's interface username and password are reverted to factory defaults.
- The Internet username and password are also reverted to factory defaults.
- If you own a DSL router you will need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider's username and password. To get this information you need to call your ISP.
- Have you ever made any other changes? Have you forwarded any ports? Have you changed your DNS settings. These all need to be reconfigured after the reset process is complete.

Reset the Crypto WF200
The first step in any reset is to locate the reset button. We have found this one for you and circled it's location for you in the image below.
Most reset buttons are very small and recessed to avoid accidentally resetting your router. It is difficult to tell how small this reset button is on the Crypto WF200. For most routers you need to use a sharp pencil or unfolded paperclip to press down on the button for about 10 seconds to begin the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you may only reboot the router instead of resetting it like you intended.
Remember this reset erases all settings that have ever been changed. To avoid resetting you really should try and exhaust other troubleshooting techniques first.
Login to the Crypto WF200
After resetting your Crypto WF200 router you'll need to log into it. This can be done using the default username and password. Don't have these? We do. Our Login Guide has them for you.
Tip: Defaults not working for you? It may be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.
Change Your Password
Now that you've logged in you should change the router's password. For help coming up with a strong password visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
Tip: Avoid losing your password by writing it down and sticking it on the underside of your router.
Setup WiFi on the Crypto WF200
Finally you should take a look at the WiFi settings. It's easy to forget these settings have also been reset. You need to update your SSID, your Internet password, and the security type. Our recommendation is the security of WPA2 with a strong Internet password. For more details check out our page titled How to Setup WiFi on the Crypto WF200.
