Reset the Data Connect 5201A-MR-P

If you need to reset your Data Connect 5201A-MR-P router back to factory settings, then this article shows you how. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Every time your router loses power it reboots. A Router Reset completely erases the router and returns it to factory settings.

Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. The following settings will be changed in your router:

  • The router's login and password are reset.
  • All WiFi settings are reset, including network name and password.
  • Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • All parental controls, firewall settings, and port forwards will be removed.

A router reset is the last step you should take in recovering your router's password. You should be sure that you have tried to at least recover your router password using our Router Password Finder before resorting to a router reset.

Reset the Data Connect 5201A-MR-P

There is usually a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look for something that looks like this:

Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.

Watch the front panel lights while you hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. You cannot hold the button too long, and it will not hurt the router to hold the reset button down for longer than 10 seconds.

Just don't forget that this will totally reset your Data Connect 5201A-MR-P router.

Change Your Password
