How to Reset the Dlink DCS-1100

On this page I will show you how reset the Dlink DCS-1100 Internet camera back to it's original factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a camera you cycle the power to the device. When you reset this camera you take all the previously configured settings and return every single one of them back to the original factory defaults.

Warning: Be careful when resetting this camera. It gets confusing if you don't know what settings are changed and what settings are not. Consider the following:

  • The camera's main username and password are returned to factory defaults.
  • If you have ever made any other changes to this camera they will be erased. Write these down so you can reconfigure these after the reset is complete.

Use a VPN Instead

The first step to a reset is knowing where the tiny recessed reset button is located. In the image below I have circled it's location for you.

As you can see from the image it is located on the side panel of the device. Take the tip of an unfolded paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This starts the reset process. If you don't hold this button down for long enough you might simply reboot the camera instead of resetting it like you wanted to.

Login to the Dlink DCS-1100

After resetting your Dlink DCS-1100 camera you'll need to log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Don't know where to get these? We have them listed for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it may be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password
