How to Reset the Dlink DCS-2000

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Dlink DCS-2000 camera back to it's original factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a camera you cycle the power to the device. When you reset a camera you take all the settings and return every one of them back to original factory defaults.

Warning: This is a big step in fixing the problem you are having with this camera. Every setting you have ever changed is returned to factory settings. Consider the following:

  • The camera's main username and password will be returned to factory settings.
  • Have you ever made any other changes? Write anything you can remember so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

Reset the Dlink DCS-2000

Begin by locating the reset button on the device itself. We found it for you and circled it in the image below.

As you can see it is located on the back panel and is very small. Take the end of an unfolded paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process. If you don't hold this button down for long enough you end up only rebooting the camera instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember this WILL erase every single setting you have ever changed on your camera. To avoid losing information you should try other troubleshooting techniques before continuing.

Login to the Dlink DCS-2000

Now that you've reset the Dlink DCS-2000 camera you'll need to log into it. This is done using the default username and password. Don't know what these are? Not to worry. We have them listed for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password
