Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink DI-804HV to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

In the Private IP box, enter the local IP address of the computer you are forwarding this port to. If you are unsure of the computer's local IP address, What is my IP Address is a great guide on how to find your computer's internal IP.

Now, use the Protocol Type drop down menu to choose the type of protocol you need to use.

The next two boxes are the Private Port and the Public Port. Enter the port number you are forwarding in both of these boxes.

Set the Schedule to Always.
