This takes you to a new page.

Start by setting an SSID. This will be your network name, and can be whatever you like. However, we recommend avoiding any personal information due to security reasons. For more information on wireless network names, see our Wireless Names Guide.

Next, be sure that the Channel is set to either 1, 6, or 11. To learn why, check out our WiFi Channels Guide.

Now make sure that the Security is set to WPA2. This will provide you with the strongest security. Why? Read our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.

After that, be sure that the Cipher Type is set to AES.

Finally, select the radio button labeled PSK String and then enter your desired password into the box below it. Your password can be anything you want, but we recommend keeping it 14-20 characters in length and avoiding any personal information. For more tips, check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

That's all there is to it. Just don't forget to click Add/Apply and then Reboot.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
