How to Reset the Dlink DP-311U

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Dlink DP-311U print server back to it's original factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot something you cycle the power to the device. When you reset something you take all the settings and return all of them back to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Be careful when resetting this device. A few things to consider before resetting this unit are:

  • The unit's IP address will be reverted back to how it was from the factory.
  • If you use a DSL connection for this print server you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your local Internet Service Provider for the details.
  • The Wireless information needs to be reconfigured as it is erased.
  • Make a note of any other settings you have changed in the past as they all will be erased.

Reset the Dlink DP-311U

The reset button for this print server is on the back panel. Take a look at the image below for reference.

Take a straightened paperclip and press down on this pinhole button for about 10 seconds to begin the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you may only reboot the print server instead of resetting it so be aware.

Remember this erases every single setting you have ever changed on this device. To avoid that we recommend exhausting you other troubleshooting methods first.

Login to the Dlink DP-311U

Once you've reset your Dlink DP-311U print server you'll need to log into it. This is done by using the factory default IP address. This can be found in our Login Guide.

Tip: Defaults not logging you in? It could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

There is no password to protect this print server's interface.
