On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Dlink DP-G310 print server back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you take and cycle the power to the device. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults. This means every single setting you have ever set is erased and returned to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this print server is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend making a list of any settings you have changed in the past. Things to consider are:

  • The login username and password are both reverted back to factory values.
  • The wireless information is also reverted back to factory defaults.
  • If you are connected with a DSL connection you may need to re-enter the ISP or Internet Service Provider username and password.
  • Any other changes such as setting up an email account for your server are erased.

This is the reset page from your Dlink DP-G310 router.

Take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button/pinhole for about 3 seconds until the USB light on the front panel turns on. If you don't hold this button down for the entire time you end up rebooting the print server instead of resetting it.

Remember this reset erases all settings you have ever changed on the device. If you want to try and avoid that loss you should exhaust your other troubleshooting options.

Login to the Dlink DP-G310

Following that you'll need to log into your Dlink DP-G310 print server. To do so you'll need to use the factory default username and password. Not sure where to find these? We have them provided for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Next we suggest setting a new password for your unit. This can be whatever you like, however keep in mind that a strong password consists of 14-20 characters and contains no personal information. For more help be sure to check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: To keep from losing your new password try writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the underside of your device.
