Setup WiFi on the Dlink DWL-2100AP

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Dlink DWL-2100AP

Beginning on the Home page of the Dlink DWL-2100AP router, click the choice on the left side of the page labeled Wireless.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DWL-2100AP

This takes you to a page where you can make certain changes to your WiFi.

You should first change the SSID. This is the name you give your WiFi network to identify it. Be creative but avoid personal information. To learn more about this, read our Wireless Names Guide.

If you want or need to change your Channel, uncheck the box that reads Auto Channel Scan. Then use the Channel drop down menu to choose the appropriate channel. Be sure you are using channel 1,6, or 11. To learn why, read our guide titled WiFi Channels.

Next is the Authentication. This is the security you are planning on using for your network. It is important to have a secure network. Use the drop down menu to choose the option of WPA2-PSK. To learn the differences in the security options, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

You are then asked for a Passphrase. This is basically the password you use to gain access to your local network. Be creative and include symbols, numbers, and letters in your password. Check out our guide on the topic by clicking this link.

When you have made all the changes you want for the security of your network, click the Apply button.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
