On this page we will be looking at how to reset the Dlink DWL-3200AP router back to the original factory defaults. A reset is not a reboot. When you reboot a router you completely cycle the power to the unit. This is done to solve some problems you are having with your router. A reset does a lot more to your router. It takes all the settings of your router and returns every one of them back to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting your router erases every single setting you have ever changed and returns them to how they were when they left the factory. This is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend making a list of all the settings you have ever changed so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete. Consider the following:

  • The router's main username and password are reverted back to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are also reverted back to factory defaults.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to reconfigure the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password back to factory defaults.
  • Write down any other settings you have ever changed on your device. This could be anything from a port forward you did or an IP address you changed.
