On this page I will show you how to properly reset the Dlink DWL-AG700AP router back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you simply are cycling the power to the unit. If you reset a router it will "forget" all of the settings you have entered. This means every setting you changed in the lifetime of this device is erased and reverted back to the default settings.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and shouldn't be taken lightly. We suggest making a list of all settings you may have changed since owning this router. Consider the following:

  • The router's main username and password are erased and returned to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are erased and returned to factory values as well.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. If you don't do this you won't be able to access the Internet. Call your ISP for the details.
  • Have you ever changed any other settings on this device? If so write them down so you can reconfigure them later.
