How to Reset the Eminent EM4544

If you can't access your router web interface you may need to reset the Eminent EM4544 router. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them to how they were when the left the factory.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend you make a list of all the settings you may of changed in the lifetime of this router. Things you may not of considered are:

  • The Internet information such as username and password.
  • The router web interface username and password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP or Internet Service Provider username and password. You need to call your local ISP for the details.
  • Other changes such as port forwards, IP addresses, DNS servers...

Use a VPN Instead

After deciding you want to reset the Eminent EM4544 router you need to find the reset button. Most likely this button is on the back panel like the image below. Sometimes the rest button is found on the underside or side panel of the unit.

Once you have found the reset button take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds while the router is on. If you don't hold the reset button down for the entire amount of time you end up only rebooting the device instead of resetting it.

Don't forget that this erases every single setting you have ever changed, so be careful. Try other methods of troubleshooting first.

Login to the Eminent EM4544

Once you've reset your Eminent EM4544 router you'll need to log into it. This is accomplished by using the factory default username and password listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: Defaults not logging you in? It might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Now that you've logged into your router we recommend setting a new password for it. This can be anything you want it to be, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. Tip: Avoid losing your password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
