This guide shows you how to reset your Genexis ED504 router to factory default settings. A router reset is very different than a router reboot. Rebooting a router is simply turning it off and back on again. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.
Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. The following settings in your router will be changed:
- The router's username and password are reset to factory defaults.
- All WiFi settings are reset, including network name and password.
- Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, or port forwards that you have configured will be removed.
Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Before you reset your router, you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Recover Password in Genexis ED504
Instead of resetting your router back to factory settings, you may want to try running our Router Password Finder first.
Router Password Finder can save you a ton of time by recovering your lost or forgotten router password instead of doing a full router reset.
Router Password Finder - Recover Lost or Forgotten Router Passwords
If you are unable to recover your lost router password, then you may have to proceed with a full router reset.
Reset the Genexis ED504
Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. This is what a typical reset button looks like:

Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. If you find a pinhole on the back of the router then that may be the reset button. You will need a paper clip to push it.
Keep an eye on the lights on the front of your router while holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. Notice how the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When the lights do something different, the router is reset. It is harmless to hold the reset button too long.
Remember, this will erase everything you have previously done to this Genexis ED504 router.
This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.
Login to the Genexis ED504
Now that you have finished resetting the router, you need to login to the router interface using the default username and password. Our ED504 Login Guide has all of the information that you need.
Change Your Password
After logging in, you should really change your router's password for added security. It is a huge security risk to leave your router's password set to the factory default. You can follow our Choosing a Strong Password guide to help you pick a solid password for your router.
Tip: Write your new password down on a post-it note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
