This article covers how to reset the Huawei B612-233 router back to factory default settings. A router reset is very different than a router reboot. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.

Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. The following settings in your router will be changed:

  • The router's username and password are reset.
  • Your WiFi login, password, and network name are reset.
  • All ISP settings will reset to default, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any firewall settings, parental controls, and port forwards that you have configured will be removed.

A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:

Reset buttons are usually tiny. Yours may look slightly different than this. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.

Watch the front panel lights while you hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. It is harmless to hold the reset button too long.

Remember, this will totally reset your Huawei B612-233 router.

Be sure to only reset your router if you have tried everything else, such as running our Router Password Finder software, which can find your lost or forgotten router password for you.
