This guide shows you how to reset your Huawei EchoLife DG8045 router to factory default settings. This is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Rebooting a router is simply turning it off and back on again. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.
Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. A router reset will affect the following settings:
- The router's login credentials are reset to factory defaults.
- All WiFi information such as network name, password, and authentication method are erased.
- Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
- All port forwards, firewall settings, and parental controls that you have configured will be removed.
Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Reset the Huawei EchoLife DG8045
Usually there is a reset button located on the back or bottom of a router. What you are looking for is something that looks like this:
Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.
Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. Notice how the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When the lights do something different, the router is reset. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.
Don't forget, this step will totally reset your Huawei EchoLife DG8045 router back to factory settings.

Login to the Huawei EchoLife DG8045
