How to Reset the Kasda RTL867x

On this page I will be showing you how to properly reset the Kasda RTL867x router back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this device is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend making a list of all the possible settings that will be reverted. This only includes settings you have changed. Normally this includes:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The network name and password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. Call your local ISP for these details.
  • Have you made any other changes to this device? If so you need to write them down so you can reconfigure them later on.

Reset the Kasda RTL867x

Below is an image of the back panel of a Kasda router. I have circled the reset button for you in red.

While the router is on take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Warning: Do not unplug or turn off the Kasda RTL867x router during the reset process. Doing so could result in permanent damage to the unit.

Please don't forget that this reset is erasing every single setting you have ever changed in the past. We highly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before you decide to reset.

Login to the Kasda RTL867x

Now that the reset is complete you need to login to the Kasda RTL867x router interface. Do so with the default IP address, username, and password. We have this information for you in our Kasda RTL867x Login Guide.

Tip: Don't panic if the defaults didn't work. You may of only rebooted the router instead of reset it. Try holding the reset button down for a little longer.

Change Your Password

It is a good idea to change default passwords as soon as possible. This password is how you protect your router settings. If you need some help with creating a new password check out our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.

Tip: One way to avoid losing this new password is to write it down on a slip of paper then tape it to the bottom of the router so you can find it next time.
