On this page I will show you how to properly reset the Linksys SPA-941 Sipura Telephone.

A reset like this one is different than a reboot. When you reboot this device you are simply cycling the power to the unit. When you reset the device you are taking all the settings and returning them to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Resetting this device is a big step. If you have voiceline now and reset the Linksys SPA-941 you will not be able to use it in the future. If you do not have voiceline setup yet you can reset and still obtain voiceline in the future. It is also a good idea to make a list of all the settings you may of changed in the past as they will all be erased. Consider the following list:

  • The telephone's main username and password are erased.
  • Any port forwarding you have done is lost.
  • IP addresses that have been changed are reverted to factory defaults.
  • Parental controls, DNS, etc... are gone and need to be reconfigured.
  • If you have voiceline and plan on using it in the future DO NOT reset this telephone.

Reset the Linksys SPA-941

To reset this unit first press the Setup button. It looks like this:

router reset factory settings
This is the reset page from your Linksys SPA-941 router.

Next use the navigation buttons to find the 14 Factory Reset option.

Choose the select option.

Press ok to confirm.

DO NOT unplug or turn off the device during the reset process. Doing so can cause permanent damage to the unit.

Remember a reset like this WILL erase every personal configuration on the device. I strongly recommend trying other methods of troubleshooting before you continue.

Login to the Linksys SPA-941

In order to login to your Linksys SPA-941 telephone after resetting it, you will need to use the default login information from the factory. This includes the default IP address, password, and username. To find out what these are, visit our Linksys SPA-941 Login Guide.

Change Your Password

The password for your telephone should be changed as soon as possible. Default passwords are easy to guess, making them bad passwords. Try to make your new password about 14-20 characters long. If you need any additional help coming up with a secure password, check out our Choosing a Strong Password guide.

Tip: Want to avoid losing your password? Try writing it down on a piece of paper and attaching it to the underside of the telephone.
