Login To The Linksys WRE54G

Change the WiFi Settings on the Linksys WRE54G

First find the box labeled SSID. This is the name you create in order to identify your network. It really doesn't matter what you enter here but we suggest avoiding personal information. Learn more about this subject in our guide titled Wireless Names Guide.

Below that is the Channel. Make sure you are using channels 1,6, or 11. To learn why, read our WiFi Channels Guide.

Next is the Wireless Security. Unfortunately this router only allows for WEP security. Do not use WEP, it is extremely weak form of security. We highly recommend updating your firmware version to allow for WPA2. Read our WEP vs. WPA guide to find out why.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
