This article covers how to reset the Netgear C6300 router back to factory default settings. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Turning a router off and back on again causes a reboot. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.
Warning: Since this erases everything you have done to the router, there are some things you need to consider first. A router reset will affect the following settings:
- The router's username and password are reset.
- All WiFi login information and network names are reset.
- All ISP settings will reset to default, and you may have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, or port forwards that you have configured will be removed.

Recover Password in Netgear C6300
If the only reason that you are resetting your router is because you forgot your router password, then you may want to try running our Router Password Finder instead of resetting your router.

If you are unable to recover your lost router password, then you may have to proceed with a full router reset.
Reset the Netgear C6300
Usually there is a reset button located on the back or bottom of a router. A typical reset button looks like this:
Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. If you find a pinhole on the back of the router then that may be the reset button. You will need a paper clip to push it.
Watch the lights on the front of your router and hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. Keep holding the button as long as you want, it will not hurt anything to hold it down too long.
Just don't forget that this will totally reset your Netgear C6300 router.

Login to the Netgear C6300

Tip: Write your new password down on a note and tape it to the bottom of your router for future reference.
