Setup WiFi on the Netgear D2200D-1FRNAS

Login To The Netgear D2200D-1FRNAS

From this page, click the Wireless Settings option at the top of the page.

This opens up a menu in the left sidebar. In this new menu, click the option of Basic Settings.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear D2200D-1FRNAS

On this page you can change the SSID and the Channel.

  • The SSID: This is the name you give your network so you can recognize it later. Be creative here but avoid personal information. Learn more on our Change your Wireless Name page.

When you are finished, click the Apply button to save your changes. Then click the option in the left sidebar labeled Security Settings in the left sidebar.

You should now see a page like the one above. On this page we will discuss five settings:

  • The Wireless Security: This needs to be set to WPA. Find out why in our WEP vs. WPA guide.
  • The Authentication Method: For this we recommend using Personal (Pre-Shared Key).
  • The WPA Type: We recommend using WPA2 here.
  • The Data Encryption: Set this to AES.
  • The WPA Pre-Shared Key: This is the network password. It is a good idea to have a strong password. If you are interested in learning how to do this properly read our Creating a Strong Password page.

When you are finished, click the Apply button to save your changes.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
