In this article, you will learn how to reset your Netgear D7000 back to factory settings. This is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.
Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. The following settings in your router will be changed:
- The router's username and password are reset to factory defaults.
- All WiFi settings are reset, including network name and password.
- Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
- Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

A router reset should be the last thing you try if you are unable to login.
Reset the Netgear D7000
There is usually a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Most reset buttons look like this:

Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.
Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and watch the lights. The blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router should change when the reset is complete. It is harmless to hold the reset button too long.
Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Netgear D7000 router.

Login to the Netgear D7000
