In this article, you will learn how to reset your Netgear DGND4000 back to factory settings. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Every time your router loses power it reboots. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.
Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. The following settings in your router will be changed:
- The router's login and password are reset.
- Your WiFi login, password, and network name are reset.
- Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, and port forwards that you have configured will be removed.
Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Recover Password in Netgear DGND4000

Just keep in mind that a router reset should be done as the last resort when you are unable to login to your router.
Reset the Netgear DGND4000
Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:
Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. Sometimes the button is under a pinhole, and you need a paper clip to push it.
Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. Notice how the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When the lights do something different, the router is reset. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.
Don't forget, this step will totally reset your Netgear DGND4000 router back to factory settings.

Login to the Netgear DGND4000

Change Your Password

Tip: Write your new password down on a post-it note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
