Wireless Password
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear FM114P
On this new page find the box labeled SSID (Service Set Identifier) and enter a new name for your network ID. While it really doesn't matter what you enter here we recommend avoiding personal information. Find out more in our Wireless Names Guide.
The next setting is called Channel No. Make sure you are using channel 1,6, or 11. To find out why these three channels are special, read our WiFi Channels Guide.
Below that is the WEP Status. This router only has this option for security. WEP is a dated and no longer secure. Please read our WEP vs. WPA Guide for more info on the topic. Our recommendation is to update your firmware to allow for the option of WPA2-PSK.
