Setup WiFi on the Netgear WPN824

The Netgear WPN824 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Use a VPN Instead

This wireless setup guide begins on the Basic Settings page of the Netgear WPN824 router. To begin, click the option of Wireless Settings in the left sidebar under Setup.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear WPN824

You are now on the correct page to change your wireless setup. First, use the box labeled Name(SSID) to enter a new name for your network. It doesn't really matter what you enter here but we suggest avoiding personal information.

The next setting we will look at is titled Channel. Here you should just check and make sure you are using channels 1,6, or 11.

Under that is the Security Options. There are several choices here. The most secure option is WPA2-PSK[AES].

The last setting is titled Passphrase. This is the password and should be as strong as possible. We recommend a minimum of 14-20 characters with at least one symbol, number, and capital letter.

That's it, the only thing left to do is save your changes by clicking the option of Apply.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
