Setup WiFi on the Rosewill RNX-N300RT

The Rosewill RNX-N300RT router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

WiFi Terms

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Wireless Name

Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.

Encryption

Login To The Rosewill RNX-N300RT

To get started configuring the Rosewill RNX-N300RT WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Rosewill RNX-N300RT

Our wireless setup guide begins on the Status page of the Rosewill RNX-N300RT router. To begin setting up your router, select the Wirless option on the left hand sidebar, and then click the Wireless Setting tab.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Rosewill RNX-N300RT

This takes you to the page you see above. On this page we need to do two things: set the Wireless Network Name and the Channel.

Let's start with the Wireless Network Name. What you enter here is what you will identify your wireless network with. It can be anything you like, be we recommend avoiding any personal information. Want to know more? Check out our guide.

Now to set the Channel. The best channels to use are channels 1, 6, or 11. If you'd like to learn why this is important, click this link.

When you're happy with your changes, click the Save button.

From here, select the Wireless Security tab on the left hand side of the page.

You should now see the page you see above.

First, we need to set the security. Scroll down and click the radio button next to WPA/WPA2 - Personal(Recommended). Then open the Version drop down menu and choose WPA2-PSK. Finally you'll need to set your Password. Again, this can be anything you like but a strong password consists of 14-20 characters, including numbers and symbols. For more information on how to create a strong password, click this link.

That' it! Your router is secure. Just make sure to save your changes before exiting.

Also, note that these changes will not take effect unless your router reboots. To reboot your router, select the button at the bottom of the screen that says click here.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
