Reset the Sitecom WL-309

This guide shows you how to reset your Sitecom WL-309 router. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. A reboot happens every time a router loses power. A Router Reset completely erases the router and returns it to factory settings.

Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. The following settings will be changed in your router:

  • The router's login credentials are reset.
  • Your WiFi login, password, and network name are reset.
  • If your router has any ISP settings they will be removed, and you will have to contact your ISP.
  • Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

Since a router reset is such a drastic step, it should only be done as a last resort when you cannot recover your router's password using any other methods. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

If you are unable to recover your lost router password, then you may have to proceed with a full router reset.

Reset the Sitecom WL-309

You can usually find a small reset button on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:

Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.

Watch the lights on the front of your router and hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds. Notice how the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When the lights do something different, the router is reset. You can hold the button down as long as you like, it will not hurt anything.

Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Sitecom WL-309 router.

Only take this last step of fully resetting your router after you have exhausted all other troubleshooting options, such as running our Router Password Finder software, which can recover a lost router password for you.

Login to the Sitecom WL-309

After you are finished resetting your router, you need to login in using the original factory username and password. Our WL-309 Login Guide has all of the information that you need.

Change Your Password

You need to change your router's default password after you log in for the first time. It is a huge security risk to leave your router's password set to the factory default. Our Choosing a Strong Password guide talks about choosing a strong password for your router.

Tip: Write your new password down on a post-it note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
