If you need to reset your Thomson Alcatel TG712 router back to factory settings, then this article shows you how. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Every time your router loses power it reboots. A Router Reset completely erases the router and returns it to factory settings.
Warning: Proceed with caution; resetting your router can be a major headache. When you reset your router, the following will happen.
- The router's username and password are reset to factory defaults.
- Your WiFi name and password are reset.
- Your ISP settings are reset, which means you will have to contact your ISP to get them back.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, and port forwards that you have configured will be removed.
Since a router reset is such a drastic step, it should only be done as a last resort when you cannot recover your router's password using any other methods. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Most reset buttons look like this:
Your reset button may look different, but usually they are very small. Sometimes the reset button is under a pinhole on the back of the router, and you need a paper clip to push it.
Watch the front panel lights while you hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds. After a few seconds the lights should blink differently. When this happens, the reset is complete. You cannot hold the button too long, and it will not hurt the router to hold the reset button down for longer than 10 seconds.
Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Thomson Alcatel TG712 router.
