In this article, you will learn how to reset your TP-Link Archer C6 v4.0 back to factory settings. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. This is different from a reset because a reset completely erases all settings from the router.
Warning: Before you proceed, there are a few things you need to know. When you reset your router, the following will happen.
- The router's username and password are reset.
- All WiFi settings are reset, including network name and password.
- Your ISP settings are reset, which means you will have to contact your ISP to get them back.
- All parental controls, firewall settings, and port forwards will be removed.

Reset the TP-Link Archer C6 v4.0
Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. This is what a typical reset button looks like:
Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. Sometimes the reset button is under a pinhole on the back of the router, and you need a paper clip to push it.
Watch the lights on the front of your router and hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds. After a few seconds the lights should blink differently. When this happens, the reset is complete. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.
