Reset the TP-Link Archer VR900

This is the reset guide for the TP-Link Archer VR900 router. Resetting a router is different than rebooting a router. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.

Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. A router reset will affect the following settings:

  • The router's login credentials are reset.
  • Your WiFi login, password, and network name are reset.
  • All ISP settings will reset to default, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any port forwards, firewall settings, or parental controls that you have configured will be removed.

Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Before you reset your router, you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Reset the TP-Link Archer VR900

There is usually a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. This is what a typical reset button looks like:

Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.

Keep an eye on the lights on the front of your router while holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. You can hold the button down as long as you like, it will not hurt anything.

Just don't forget that this will totally reset your TP-Link Archer VR900 router.

This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.

Login to the TP-Link Archer VR900

Once the reset is complete, you need to login to your router using the default IP address, username, and password. Our Archer VR900 Login Guide has all of the information that you need.

Change Your Password

Be sure to change your router's default password after you get logged back in. It's a very bad idea to leave your router's password set to the factory default. You can follow our Choosing a Strong Password guide to help you pick a solid password for your router.

Tip: After creating this new password, we highly recommend writing this down on a post-it note and attaching it to the bottom of your router for future reference.
