Reset the TP-Link TL-WDR4300

If you need to reset your TP-Link TL-WDR4300 router back to factory settings, then this article shows you how. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.

Warning: Proceed with caution; resetting your router can be a major headache. The following settings in your router will be changed:

  • The router's login and password are reset.
  • Your WiFi name and password are reset.
  • Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • All parental controls, firewall settings, and port forwards will be removed.

Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

On most routers you can find a small button on the back or the bottom labeled reset. Look for something that looks like this:

Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. If you find a pinhole on the back of the router then that may be the reset button. You will need a paper clip to push it.

Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and watch the lights. The blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router should change when the reset is complete. You can hold the button down as long as you like, it will not hurt anything.

Keep in mind that this will completely reset your TP-Link TL-WDR4300 router.

Change Your Password

Tip: Write your new password down on a note and tape it to the bottom of your router for future reference.
