Setup WiFi on the TP-Link TL-WR2543ND

The TP-Link TL-WR2543ND router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The TP-Link TL-WR2543ND

To get started configuring the TP-Link TL-WR2543ND WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the TP-Link TL-WR2543ND

This wireless setup guide will begin on the Status page of the TP-Link TL-WR2543ND router. First, select the option in the left sidebar labeled Wireless. Then just below that click Wireless Settings.

Change the WiFi Settings on the TP-Link TL-WR2543ND

You are then taken to a page like the one you see here. First enter a new name for your network in the box titled Wireless Network Name. It really doesn't matter what you enter here but it's a good idea to avoid personal or router info. To learn more, read our Wireless Name Guide.

Now locate the Channel. If you need to change your channel, make sure it is to either 1,6, or 11. Want to know why, read this guide.

Now back in the left sidebar click the option of Wireless Security.

On this new page, make sure the radio dot labeled WPA/WPA2 - Personal(Recommended) is filled in. You will need to scroll down to see it.

Under that choose the Version. This is the security measures. We recommend the most secure, WPA/WPA2 - Personal(Recommended). Want to know more, read our WEP vs. WPA guide.

Go ahead and set the Encryption to AES.

The last thing that needs to be changed is the PSK Password. This is the network password. You will need to type this password in each device you want to use your internet. It's important to enter a strong password here. Try using at least 14 characters. We have some more ideas for you in this guide.

That's all there is to do, just don't forget to click the Save button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
