Setup WiFi on the Trendnet TEW-450APBv2

We begin this wireless setup guide on the STATUS page of the TRENDnet TEW-450APBv2 router. To begin, click Basic Setting on the left hand side of the page.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Trendnet TEW-450APBv2

You should now be on the page you see above.

We'll start by setting a SSID. This will be your wireless network name, and can be anything you like. You should, however, avoid personal information. Type your desired network name into the box labeled SSID, and then, if you'd like to learn more about wireless network names, click this link.

Now you need to make sure the Channel is set to either 1, 6, or 11. To do this, open the drop down menu labeled Channel and select your preferred option. To learn more, check out our WiFi Channels Guide.

Next, open the drop down list marked as Authentication and select WPA2. To learn why this is important, see our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Finally, you'll need to set a password. A strong password consists of 14-20 characters and doesn't include any personal information. Type your desired password into the box labeled Passphrase. For more helpful tips on creating a strong password, check out our guide.

Before leaving the page, make sure to click Apply.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
