This guide shows you how to reset your Zoom X6 router. Resetting a router is different than rebooting a router. Turning a router off and back on again causes a reboot. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.

Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. A router reset will affect the following settings:

  • The router's login and password are reset to factory defaults.
  • Your WiFi login, password, and network name are reset.
  • Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
  • All port forwards, firewall settings, and parental controls that you have configured will be removed.

Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Reset the Zoom X6

On most routers you can find a small button on the back or the bottom labeled reset. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:

Router Reset Button

Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.

Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.

Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Zoom X6 router.

Only take this last step of fully resetting your router after you have exhausted all other troubleshooting options, such as running our Router Password Finder software, which can recover a lost router password for you.

Login to the Zoom X6

Now that you have finished resetting the router, you need to login to the router interface using the default username and password. We have a X6 Login Guide with all this information ready for you.

Change Your Password

Do not forget to change your router's default password when you log back into it. It's a very bad idea to leave your router's password set to the factory default. You can follow our Choosing a Strong Password guide to help you pick a solid password for your router.

Tip: Write your new password down on a post-it note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
