This guide covers how to reset the Amped Wireless TAP-R2 router back to factory defaults. There is a lot of confusion between the terms reset and reboot. When you want to reboot something you want to cycle it's power by turning it off and back on again. Resetting a router is reverting all the settings back to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Resetting your router can cause problems if you don't know what to expect. We recommend making a list of all the settings you know will change. Begin by using the list we created below:

  • The router's username and password are reverted to factory defaults.
  • The WiFi information such as SSID, password, and security method are returned to factory.
  • If you use DSL you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. This information can be obtained by calling your ISP.
  • Any other settings that you have changed such as port forwards are erased. These need to be re-configured.
