The default login for most ARRIS gateways is username admin and password password. Some ISP versions use different defaults. NVG gateways use a Device Access Code printed on the label.
The Most Common ARRIS Logins
- admin / password: SURFboard and Touchstone gateways, and Xfinity gateways.
- cusadmin / password: some cable ISP versions (such as Rogers).
- Device Access Code on the label: NVG gateways (AT&T, Frontier).
- admin / last 8 characters of the serial number: newer SURFboard cable modems.
- Printed on the label: many newer models.

The label also shows the default WiFi network name and password. Those connect you to WiFi. They don't log you in to the gateway.
If the Default Password Doesn't Work
- Check the label for a unique password or access code.
- Try password, then admin.
- Xfinity: reset the admin password in the Xfinity app.
- Reset the gateway. That brings back the default password.
Change the Admin Password
- SURFboard and Touchstone: Advanced > Options (or Basic > Password).
- Xfinity: Troubleshooting > Change Password.
- NVG: the Device Access Code can't be changed. Protect the gateway by keeping the label private.
