This is the reset guide for the Arris TG3482G router. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Every time your router loses power it reboots. This is different from a reset because a reset completely erases all settings from the router.

Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. The following settings in your router will be changed:

  • The router's login credentials are reset to factory defaults.
  • Your WiFi name and password are reset.
  • Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Reset the Arris TG3482G

Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:

Router Reset Button

Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. Sometimes the button is under a pinhole, and you need a paper clip to push it.

Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and watch the lights. You should notice that the blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router changes after a few seconds. You cannot hold the button too long, and it will not hurt the router to hold the reset button down for longer than 10 seconds.

Don't forget, this step will totally reset your Arris TG3482G router back to factory settings.

This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.

Login to the Arris TG3482G

Now you need to log in using the factory default username and password. You can find all of the information that you need in our TG3482G Login Guide.

Change Your Password

After logging in to your router for the first time, you need to change your router's password. Leaving a router password set to default is a very serious security risk. If you need help coming up with a strong password, check out our Choosing a Strong Password guide.

Tip: Write your new password down on a note and tape it to the bottom of your router for future reference.
